Children's Dental Care Guide

Healthy adult teeth begin with healthy baby teeth. Start cleaning your child's mouth even before the first tooth appears by wiping the gums with a soft, damp cloth after feeds. Once that first tooth erupts — usually around six months — switch to a tiny soft-bristled brush with a smear of fluoride toothpaste the size of a grain of rice.
Your child's first dental visit should happen by their first birthday or within six months of the first tooth. Early visits are short, friendly and focused on prevention. They help your child get used to the clinic, allow us to spot problems early and give parents practical advice on feeding, thumb-sucking and brushing technique.
As your child grows, lead by example. Brush together, make it fun with songs or timers, and limit sugary snacks and juice. Regular six-monthly checkups, fluoride applications and protective sealants on the back teeth will set your child up for a lifetime of confident, cavity-free smiles.
